About Me

In therapeutic sessions, I offer an attentive presence and a safe place to experience emotions, explore options, and try new behaviors.  Although I feel open to work with a wide variety of issues, I particularly enjoy working with clients experiencing:

  • grief,
  • trauma,
  • infertility and pregnancy related losses,
  • physical/emotional/spiritual abuse.

I am also skilled in helping people with anxiety disorders and mood disorders of all kinds.  I take the spiritual dimension of personal issues seriously and am happy to discuss this dimension with you if you wish.

I offer a alternative treatment for depression and anxiety: the Alpha-Stim cranial electronic stimulator.  This is a promising non-drug treatment alternative, for those who prefer not to take medicaiton, or would like to decrease the dosage of the medications they do take.

My therapeutic approach varies according to your needs as a client. At our first session, we will begin establishing a relationship and together we will determine which approaches would be the most helpful to you. I might draw on cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, family of origin work, and neurobiology in working with you.

I have many years of experience as a psychotherapist.  I earned my Master’s degree in counseling in 1980, and have been a Licensed Mental Health Counselor since 1988.  In the past thirty years, I have worked in a variety of settings, including:  community mental health, inpatient and outpatient psychiatry, assisted living, in-home mental heath services,  domestic violence programs, homeless women shelters, crisis intervention, and private practice.

I am able to accept most insurance plans.
